Fingers and toes with claws: for digging holes to store nuts
Rotational ankles with claws: can sink into the bark of tree trunks when they run
Large, protruding, retinal eyes: sharp vision and distinguish vertical objects and able to see behind, overhead and underneath without turning heads as well as see bright colourful surroundings.
 Food habits
Rely on a diet consisting of leaves, fruits, seeds, insects, nuts, acorns and cones. Rotate dietary consumption based on the seasonal availability of the item. In winter, mainly consuming Camellia tree flowers. In summer, luscious fruits are abundant for Red-bellied Squirrels.
 Geographic Range
Red-bellied squirrels naturally reside in southern China, Malaya, and the lowlands and mountains of Taiwan.
 Habitat
The habitat has a mean temperature of 16°C and mean rainfall of 1,455 mm. Vegetation comprise evergreen trees and woody plants with a high occurrence of fruiting vegetation such as the camellia and bayberry.
 Reproduction
Breeding season: maily in Summer, March to July and 2 breeding chance
Number of embryo per birth: <2, i.e. multiparity
Mating system: polygynandrous
 Behavior
Hostilities start when squirrels encounter each other, eating, recreation, nidification, cleaning their hairs and gnawing trees,etc

Methodology
 
We planned to observe the Calloscinrus erythraeus life during 4 periods, which is in the morning (8-10am), noon (11am-1pm), afternoon (1-3pm) and late afternoon (3-5pm). Therefore, our group divided into 2 groups. One group observes during the morning and noon while the other group observes the afternoon and late afternoon. We observe two day per week and totally observed for 4 weeks. When we saw the Calloscinrus erythraeus, we will record what their activities and how long are the activities. The place we observes the Calloscinrus erythraeus is in the U-drive of HKU Campus.
